A brief about South West Gauteng TVET College 

South West Gauteng College with its headquarters in Soweto’s Molapo Campus is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), formerly known as a Further Education and Training (FET) college that operates under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) under the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act No.16 of 2006, as amended. Umalusi and numerous Sector Education and Training Authorities (Seta’s) have granted the College accreditation to provide education and training, primarily in the FET band (NQF Level 2 to 4). Some programs are available in the Higher Education band, which ranges from N4 to N6. The college is one of the largest in the country, with approximately 30 000 students enrolled.

Prospective Students who wish to study at the College through NSFAS Bursary must APPLY ONLINE at www.swgc.co.za and click on the NSFAS icon on the top of the home page OR http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/

Returning students who were supported by NSFAS who have passed will not need to reapply for NSFAS, as the bursary will automatically continue in the New Year.

All students who have applied and have been awarded a bursary will be allowed to enroll.

Date of opening

Nsfas Online Application Opens 1 September and closes November 30 for prospective applicants.

Documents required

When applying for the Bursary,  following documents will  be required.

Latest Academic Results/Identity Document/Birth Certificate
Proof of parental income (if both parents work)
Certificates of Death (if one or both parents have died)
Certificate from a doctor (If permanently disabled)

How to apply 

-Please visit the NSFAS website – nsfas.org.za

-You may also choose to visit any Buffalo City TVET College Campus – Student Support Service for assistance.

-Please ensure that you have the correct documents (certified not older than 3 months) in electronic format available:

    • Your South African ID or a birth certificate( if you do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card)
    • ID of parents and/or guardian or death certificate where applicable.

– Attach letter of employment stating income of parents and/or guardian (SASSA slips are not
required and SASSA should not be included as household income

-Please ensure that you download the  CONSENT FORM and that it is completed by your parent/s and or guardian this has to be attached to your Application form.
