Terms and conditions of South African Road Federation Bursary

  • Bursaries are given to students who wish to study at a South African university or a university of technology.
  • Advanced study, such as an M.Sc., M. Tech., or higher, is desirable. Undergraduate applications may, however, be considered under exceptional situations.
  • The full-time study will be given preference, although part-time or distance learning applicants will also be considered.
  • All applications must be approved by the academic authority at the institution where the applicant intends to study.
  • The amount of the bursary will be determined by the applicant’s needs and the Federation Council’s decision. It is, however, meant to supplement the student’s other financial resources and will not be sufficient to cover all of the student’s expenses. On the bursar’s behalf, it will be paid directly to the academic institution in question.
  • Applicants must demonstrate to Council that, upon completion of their studies, they will be working in the South African road transport industry to a fair extent.
  • Employees of members of the South African Road Federation shall be given preference if all other factors are equal.
  • Residents of South Africa will be given precedence, although individuals from other SADC nations are encouraged to apply. They should contact their national road federation or the International Road Federation to do so (Geneva or Washington office).
