South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) Bursary Application

About South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) Bursary

To right the wrongs of the past by providing black people with property-related education and access to the commercial real estate business. To secure future growth, promote the Commercial Property Industry at both the secondary and tertiary levels.

 

Fields of study

SAPOA bursaries will be offered to people pursuing a property-related degree, notably in the subjects of study listed below:

  • Finance (BCom) (majoring in Property Valuation and Management)
  • Property Valuation and Management (BCom)
  • Property Management (BSc)
  • Property Studies (BSc)
  • Real Estate (BSc)
  • Town and Regional Planning (BSc)
  • Urban and Regional Planning (BSc)
  • Construction Studies (BSc)
  • Quantity Surveying (BSc)

Eligibility criteria

Before applying, applicants must meet the following minimal entry criteria (please note that if you do not meet all of the requirements, your application will be rejected):

  • South African citizen OR naturalized South African citizen
  • Complete Matric
  • Studying full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study or intending to study full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Black students, as defined by the BBBEE Act (i.e. African/ Coloured/ Indian) studying at a recognized university or university of technology in South Africa (registered with the Council for Higher Education),
  • Exceptional academic performance
  • Financial need that has been established

Required documents

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Proof of acceptance to study at tertiary institution
  • Latest academic record/ transcript (on tertiary letterhead)
  • Breakdown of costs for the relevant study programme for the year
  • Curriculum Vitae (of background and working experience)
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • Personal statement (max 2 pages)
  • Two written references.
