South African Nursery Association Bursary Application

About South African Nursery Association Bursary

  • The South African Nursery Association (SANA) was established in 1947 as a non-profit organization to advocate the green/nursery industry’s interests. The ABSTA (Allied, Bulb & Seed Trade Association), the GCA (Garden Centre Association), and the BPGA are now all represented by SANA (Bedding Plant Growers Association).
  • SANA established the bursary program to assist students pursuing degrees in horticulture or horticultural science.

Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Horticultural Science (BSc/ BSc (Hons) MSc/ Ph.D Agric degrees)
  • Horticulture (National Diploma/ Higher Diploma)

Required documents when applying for the bursary

  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Matric certificate (certified copy),
  • Full academic results record (on tertiary letterhead),
  • Proof of registration in one of the aforementioned fields of study (on tertiary letterhead).

Applicants must add all the mentioned documents to their application forms for submission. Any applications lacking any of the said documents will not be considered.

Eligibility requirements

Before applying, applicants must meet the following minimum entrance requirements:

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying in one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Passed and completed at least 3 first-year subjects.

Timelines for new applications

  • The deadline for the submission of fresh applications is pegged at 31 December.
  • Applicants must note that any applications sent after the said date will not be considered.
