Potato Industry Development Trust Bursaries

Minimum requirements when applying for Potato Industry Development Trust Bursaries
Before applying, applicants must meet the following minimum entrance requirements.

Undergraduate students:

  • You must be a citizen of South Africa.
  • You must have finished your Matriculation.
  • You must be pursuing one of the aforementioned Agriculture credentials.
  • You must be in your first or second year of studies (the bursary will cover from 2nd year of study)
  • You must be enrolled in a South African tertiary institution.
  • You must have a solid academic background.

Postgraduate students:

  • You must be a citizen of South Africa.
  • You must have finished your Matriculation.
  • You must be working on an Honours, Masters, or PhD degree in a potato-related field.
  • You must be enrolled in a South African tertiary institution.
  • You must have a solid academic background.
  • Students will also have the chance to participate in an internship and a work experience program in order to improve their abilities and find work.

Required documents when applying for Potato Industry Development Trust Bursaries

Undergraduate studies:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Qualification certificates (certified copies)
  • Latest academic transcripts/records (on institutions letterhead)
  • Admission letter from tertiary institution (on institutions letterhead)
  • Any additional documents that may be relevant to your application

Postgraduate studies:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Qualification certificates (certified copies)
  • Latest academic transcripts/records (on institutions letterhead)
  • Admission letter from tertiary institution on institutions letterhead)
  • Colour photograph (full length)
  • Masters/ PhD students: progress report/recommendation letter from a supervisor
  • Any additional documents that may be relevant to your application

Fields of Study

The PIDT will be awarding bursaries for studies, within the following Agricultural fields:

Undergraduate studies:

  • Agricultural Production,
  • Agronomy,
  • Plant Production,
  • Soil Science

Postgraduate studies:

  • Honours, Masters or PhD – with a Potato Related Topic.

Closing date for fresh applications

31 October is the deadline. Applications submitted after this date will not be attended to.
