  • At Old Mutual, we provide support to students who want to pursue a career as an accountant or an actuary. Students who have excelled academically are eligible for the bursary.
  • Every year, the Old Mutual bursary provides exceptional minds with the opportunity to study at a prominent South African university. The bursary will cover the majority of the expenses.

Old Mutual Bursary covers what 

The bursary will cover the following costs:

Full tuition, book allowance, university residence if applicable, and one return flight home each year if you are studying outside of your hometown.

Eligibility criteria 

  • Only applications from nationals of South Africa will be considered.
  • Applicants who will be in their first year the following year must have scored at least 70% on their mid-year Grade 12 examinations, with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics and 70% in English FAL or 60% in English HL.
  • With the exception of Climate Studies, scholarships are only available to applicants who will be in their first or second year in 2022.
  • Applicants in their first year must have received a grade of 65 percent or higher on their most recent exams (mid-year / June).
  • Preference will be given to applicants from rural and township backgrounds.

Needed documents 

  • South African citizen by birth or descent
  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Certified copy of Matric results

Preference will be given to African, Indian, Chinese, and Colored South African learners.
