Nurse corps scholarship

  • The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program (Nurse Corps SP) offers scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum two-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) commitment to a qualifying health care facility with a significant nursing shortage. The information provided by candidates is used to examine their eligibility, qualifications, and continuous compliance with the appropriate standards for Nurse Corps SP participation. In addition, data from other sources is taken into account (e.g., credit bureau reports).
  • The contract, application, required additional forms, supporting documents, associated communication, and data of an individual are kept in a system of records that will be used by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in conjunction with Nurse Corps SP activities.

What is the significance of the Program?

  • Many Americans lack access to basic health care. Checkups, preventive screenings, and immunizations are all included. This occurs when a community’s healthcare workforce is insufficient.
  • Nurses are still in short supply in the United States. These challenges are addressed by the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program.

Areas the scholarship covers

If you get an award, you’ll get a monthly stipend—and we’ll cover your

  • tuition;
  • eligible fees;
  • reasonable costs (includes books, clinical supplies/instruments, and uniforms).

Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • are a U.S. citizen (born or naturalized), a national, or a lawful permanent resident
  • are an accepted or enrolled student in a nursing degree program at any United States accredited school of nursing
  • begin classes no later than September 30
  • don’t have any federal judgment liens
  • don’t have an existing service commitment
  • aren’t overdue on a federal debt
