About National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) Bursary

  • The NMISA provides bursaries for undergraduate and postgraduate study at a recognized South African university. The bursars will be obliged to work one year for every year sponsored at the NMISA after graduation.
  • Graduates will have the opportunity to work at NMISA in the Science of Accurate Measurement (Metrology). The following fields of study are eligible for bursaries: Materials Science, Physics, and Chemistry are all areas of engineering (electrical/electronic, mechanical).

Selection criteria for National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) Bursary

  • Academic merit and financial necessity are considered while awarding bursaries.
  • Undergraduate students enrolled full-time in any of the subjects listed above at a recognized South African university.
  • Candidates who can provide grade 11 results and a grade 12 progress report, or who have a grade 12 exemption certificate with approved symbols.
  • Candidates who are financially handicapped
  • Applicants must be citizens of South Africa.

The bursary covers the following expenses

  • The full costs of registration and tuition, residence fees, and allowance for prescribed books and necessary requirements.
  • The successful candidates will have an opportunity to gain work experience at the NMISA during vacations.
