The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) facilitates entry to the National Certificate qualification (Vocational) through the DHET TVET Bursary scheme. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), which replaced the Tertiary Education Fund of South Africa in 1999, was founded in 1996.

The online application for the Nsfas opens on September 1, and finishes on November 30.

How to apply

1.Get the online application form and fill it out.

-Please make sure you have the following documentation in electronic format (verified within the last three months):

Your South African ID or a birth certificate (if you don’t have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card), as well as the IDs of your parents and/or guardians and, if applicable, a death certificate.

2.A pay receipt, a letter of employment, or a pension stub showing the parents’ and/or guardians’ income is necessary.

3. Please make sure you download the CONSENT FORM and have it signed by your parent(s) or guardian(s) – it must be attached to your Application form.
