About Mercy College of Ohio
- Mercy College is a private Catholic university in Toledo, Ohio, that focuses on healthcare education. Mercy College of Ohio was created in 1992 and now offers graduate, baccalaureate, associate, and certificate programs. Its roots may be traced back to a nursing school founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1918. In 2002, the College opened a branch in Youngstown, Ohio, where it offers an associate degree in nursing.
- Youngstown clinical facilities can also be used to complete an Ophthalmic Assistant certificate. In recent years, the College has seen a considerable increase in enrollment.
- In the spirit of Mercy’s legacy and principles, teachers and staff strive to inspire students to a commitment to lifelong learning and social responsibility. The College is dedicated to offering high-quality education to all students.

Admission Requirements
- All applicants must be either a high school graduate with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 or a GED recipient with a score of at least 500. (score of 53 prior to 2002).
- To be deemed program ready for admission, all direct from high school students aged 24 and under must take the ACT or SAT and achieve an ACT composite score of 21 or a SAT combined score of 990. (For exam codes, contact Admissions.)
- For entrance, any direct from high school students aged 25 and up who have not attended a college or university are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores. Students aged 25 and up must also complete the program’s other prerequisites.
- Students who do not have an ACT or SAT score may be accepted into a Mercy College pre-program or a certificate program that does not require an ACT or SAT score. Students with Math sub-scores below the requirement on the ACT or SAT are invited to take the math placement assessment to determine their math course placement. Applicants who do not fulfill the minimal Algebra, Biology, or Chemistry criteria for admission to the major are urged to start as a pre-major at Mercy College in order to complete the requirements for admission to the major.
