Harmony Gold Mining

  • On August 25, 1950, Harmony was founded and registered as a public company in South Africa, and it eventually became a Randgold-managed corporation, exploiting the single Harmony mining license.
  • Following Randgold’s demise in 1995, Harmony was resurrected as a distinct company. Harmony has expanded from a single, lease-bound mining operation to a multi-operation, worldwide, independent, world-class gold producer since 1995.

About Harmony Gold Mining Bursary

The Harmony Gold Bursary Scheme aims to recruit and select bursars for full-time study at authorized Tertiary Institutions, ideally from areas near our operations. Students entering or already enrolled in tertiary institutions are eligible for the Bursary Scheme.

Fields of Study the bursary covers

  • Mining Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current ONLY)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Geology
  • Survey
  • Extractive Metallurgy
  • Rock Engineering

Qualification requirements for the bursary

  • A South African identity paper that is current and valid (SA Citizen).
  • A National Senior Certificate, indicating that all subjects were passed with a grade of 60 percent or higher.
  • Students interested in studying Engineering must have a minimum of 70% in Mathematics and Physical Science.
  • Students who have already attended postsecondary institutions must have received a 60 percent or above average in all major disciplines. The results from the previous year must be attached.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) (1 page).

NOTE:

  • Applicants from Harmony host communities will be given priority in the final selection.

  • People who have been historically disadvantaged

Timelines for fresh applications

New applications will be accepted until  3 October. This date marks the deadline for application submission.  Any applications sent after the mentioned date will not be accepted.
