About NSFAS Application for Durban University of Technology

Financial aid is a sort of assistance based on approved study expenses. Each year, the Department of Higher Education and Training’s National Bursary Rules and Guidelines define the maximum amount of money that can be spent on education.

NSFAS will distribute resources to qualified students primarily on their permitted cost of attendance; this does not include club and society coverage or fines.

To see if their application has been approved, applicants must go to the MyNSFAS webpage. NSFAS will notify universities about new and returning students’ funding eligibility.

Qualified students’ registration (cost of study) fees will be reimbursed to NSFAS after registration. After receiving and processing registration cost data, NSFAS will certify the actual funding amount.

It’s important to remember that NSFAS has no idea what program of study an applicant has chosen until registration data is received. Even if a student is eligible for financial aid, he or she may choose to enroll in an unfunded course. NSFAS will not process or issue any funding in this case. As a result, it is the obligation of the applicant to get familiar with the list of NSFAS-funded programs (available on their website).
