Who can apply for the bursary

Candidates who intend to apply for an LLM degree at a South African university are eligible for a bursary.

You must meet the following conditions to be considered for this bursary:

• Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident

• Must have obtained an LLB degree at a South African university

• Must have applied for and been accepted for LLM studies at a South African university

Required documents

  • Cover/motivation letter and CV (in 1 document) clearly articulating which opportunity you are applying for
  • Certified Copy of your identity document or driver’s license
  • Certified Grade 12 (matric) results
  • Certified updated University academic transcript

Kenyan Pupillage and/or Student Vacation Programme

  • Cover/motivation letter and updated CV
  • Certified Copies of all academic certificates and transcripts (secondary school and university)
  • Certified copy of your national identity card or passport

Please note that applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for a pupillage position in our Nairobi office:

  • at the time of applying, have been admitted to the Advocates Training Programme at the Kenya School of Law (KSL) in its current academic year. (Please contact KSL for further details about admission requirements.)
  • hold an LLB degree from a Kenyan or foreign university with no less than an upper second-class honors
  • hold a KCSE Certificate (or equivalent) with A or A-; or
  • hold a KCPE Certificate (or equivalent) with A or A-
