NSFAS Application for Central University of Technology

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government-run organization that reports to the Ministry of Higher Education and Training (DHET). It offers study subsidies to qualified students planning to attend Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges or public universities.

What is covered by the NSFAS bursary?
NSFAS facilitates students’ educational journey pleasurable and free of financial hardship by giving all essential support from registration to graduation to ensure that they get the most out of their studies.

They are also compensated for the following:

Food, personal care, and educational materials are available, as well as lodging and transportation.

Students with disabilities receive additional assistance, such as:

Medical assessments: For the course of the qualification and upon request by the Disability Unit/Student Support, the assessment is limited to one.
For the duration of the qualification, you are only allowed to use one assistive equipment.
Human support: To pay for things like a carer, a guiding dog, a scribe, a tutor, or a sign language interpreter.

Who is eligible for NSFAS funds?
If you are a South African citizen planning to study at a public university or TVET college and you fall into one or more of the following categories, you are eligible for an NSFAS bursary:

SASSA grantees in total.
Applicants with a combined household income of less than R350 000 per year are eligible.
The total household income of disabled people shall not exceed R600 000 per year.
Students who began their studies prior to 2018 and whose annual household income is less than R122 000.

Application Instructions.

The documents below describe how to apply for sponsorship at NSFAS.

1) At https://my.nsfas.org.za/mynsfas/selfservice.html, the applicant must create a myNSFAS account.

When making an account, you must supply the following information: username, password, ID number, cellphone number, and email address.

2) You can then log in with your chosen username and password.

3) Click the “apply” button to finish the application form.

4) Keep in mind that you can submit electronic versions of your supporting documents once you’ve filled in all of the needed information. (Don’t forget to fill in all of the fields) (as listed below). After you’ve uploaded all of your documents, click the “submit” button to get your reference number.
